Last Sunday’s game between Liverpool and Huddersfield with the Reds taking home the victory was rather average for the team. The team is up for another match against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, which Klopp and his boys are greatly preparing for. The 51-year-old Germany native believes that they could’ve done better and will have to do better to outdo the Serbian club.
The Reds took home the 1-0 victory which was held at John Smith’s Stadium last Sunday, October 21 and was categorically subpar. Klopp goes on to say in a statement:
“We have to really work for it and in the last game, I was not the only one who felt a bit average. It was influenced in my case by the three big counter-attacks we had and did not finish off one. If we finish one it’s done. We didn’t. They had a half chance. I didn’t feel good after the game.”
After nine games, Liverpool currently shares the top spot with Manchester City but have yet to replicate or even outdo their own performances from 2017. “’We have to perform, we have to fight, do the right things in the right moment. It’s not about showing that we can do similar to last season.” Klopp adds.
The renowned Serbian team Red Star Belgrade lost to Paris Saint-Germain 6-1, but the Reds will have to wait and see if they can outdo themselves against the Serbians on the Wednesday night match. Red Star fans will not be in the field then due to the UEFA ban but Klopp outlandishly bragged with a statement saying “They were not banned, they were not interested!”
