Park Hang-Seo Keeps his Head down despite Vietnam’s Humble Win

Yesterday, November 6 in My Dinh Stadium, Vietnam was quite a phenomenal event as Park Hang Seo impressively leads his boys to victory. A 4-2 aggregate win over the Azkals is something the South Korean coach is responsible for but humbly redirects the attention on his players instead.

In an interview after the match, the 59-year-old coach shares in a statement: “This is the first time Vietnam [reached the] AFF Suzuki Cup final after 10 years. I would like to thank Vietnam’s supporters, and I would like to thank all my players for the game today.”

People may have been making comparisons with the Swedish coach of the Philippine team Sven Goran Eriksson. Vietnam’s football coach was very quick to dismiss any of the attempts of press pushing for that question. Park Hang Seo was just awe-struck and humbled to be in the same field as the world-class coach.

“[I] hope everyone does not compare me with coach [Sven-Goran] Eriksson. He is a world class coach. I am very honored to [go against] him [in the Suzuki Cup]. Although I beat him twice, my level [as a coach] can’t compare to [his].”

Vietnam may have taken this victory from the Philippine Azkals but they have yet to conquer the two-legged AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 finals against Malaysia.
